That’s why we’re proud to highlight the incredible journey of StowNut Donut & Diner, a beloved staple in Stow that has overcome adversity with the help of its dedicated owners and a supportive community.

The Resilience of a Local Gem: StowNut Donut & Diner

StowNut Donut & Diner has been serving the Stow community for over 22 years. In August, just before celebrating their one-year anniversary under new ownership, disaster struck. A fire - caused by an exploded battery charger - swept through the diner, forcing them to close for 161 days.

Thankfully, no one was in the building at the time, and thanks to the quick action of Edible Arrangements next door, firefighters arrived within ten minutes. Though the fire devastated much of the interior, the diner’s spirit remained unshaken.

The Power of Community Support

The Stow community rallied around StowNut Donut & Diner, offering overwhelming support. From a GoFundMe campaign started by the local Rotary Club to regulars checking in on the owners, the outpouring of generosity was humbling. This support allowed them to keep nearly all of their employees, ensuring that the heart and soul of the diner remained intact.

A Fresh Start

After months of hard work, the diner reopened with a refreshed space - new counters, walls, ceilings, air conditioners, and kitchen equipment. The sense of normalcy returned, as customers once again filled the booths and counter seats, eager to enjoy their favorite meals and reconnect with friendly faces.

More Than Just Donuts

While donuts may be in the name, StowNut Donut & Diner offers a full breakfast and lunch menu until 2 PM daily. Whether you’re craving their famous corned beef hash, Eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce, or their massive fish sandwich, there’s something for everyone.

Their Fireman Special, named in honor of the firefighters who helped during the fire, is a favorite among locals. It includes one piece of ham, bacon, sausage, three eggs, a choice of potatoes, toast, and pancakes or French toast.

The diner isn’t just a restaurant - it’s a place where friendships are formed and traditions continue. Some customers visit five or six days a week, while others rely on it as their primary gathering place. With a retro 50s-style diner atmosphere, it offers a cozy and welcoming setting for all.
